Testimonials and Stories

We have been offering our services for many years, and at the end of each course or project, we have clients and attendees complete an evaluation. These evaluations can remain anonymous.

The way we see it; these evaluations are a great method of determining the perceived value an attendee puts on our work, and whether the money they spent was spent wisely. Anonymous evaluations also allow for tremendous negative feedback if we have missed the mark.

On overall perceived value, we ask clients and attendees to rate the work we accomplished on a scale between 1 and 10. Our average score over the years is 9.5! We can think of no greater compliment than that which comes from the people who procure our services and attend our courses….and we deeply appreciate it.

Here is a sampling of feedback we receive.

Shoot Or Don’t Shoot Course

Customized Professional Safety Training
Through Risk/Needs assessments, our staff has provided customized training for Probation and Parole, Corrections and Law Enforcement. Some of the comments we have received from these professionals.

“The evaluations relative to your safety training were positive, and your knowledge of the topic was evident. I thought that the information which you provided documenting the hazards and need, along with supporting legislation was instructive. Personally, I was surprised at the obvious effectiveness of those elementary tactics we practiced. I also appreciate your efforts to tailor your training to the extent possible to accommodate our needs, volume and arrangements.” Andy D. – Director, Special Supervision, Minnesota Department of Corrections

“The feedback I am hearing from those in attendance is outstanding! The information and skill training you provide appears to make our agents feel both aware of safety issues and more confident in their ability to manage tough situations. The staff who have worked with you think most highly of your work. The follow-through you provide, in terms of knowledge and skills mastered, is also appreciated as our department moves forward in this effort.” Joan F. – Director, Community Corrections

“Terry Hipp and Don Moe recently trained twenty persons in preparation for the beginning of the Minneapolis Anti-Violence Initiative. They prepared their material well prior to the event, they made excellent presentations and demonstrations; they followed through with proficiency evaluations during the entire course length, which was approximately sixteen hours in duration. Were it not for them being available, we may have not been able to launch this effort with the same degree of confidence and security that I feel we enjoy.” Jim R. - Special Programs Manager, Probation & Parole

“Let me add my thanks to the recognition – on your extraordinary help with the training. I was excited about the possibility of both of you teaming up together again to do this training, and was very pleased to hear about the terrific job you did in providing agents with officer safety. Everyone involved appreciated your commitment of time and talent to this endeavor.” Dennis A. – Division Director, Adult Probation & Parole

“Great job! Thanks for taking the time to learn, teach and train in the area of officer safety. Your presentation on the Use of Force Model was clear, complete, and articulate.” Joe H. – Division Director, Juvenile Probation & Parole

“On behalf of all members of the Community-Based Supervision Initiative Committee of the US Probation Office, I would like to thank you for your time, effort, and hospitality you showed us. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with you. We discovered we have the same goals in mind. We will present these findings to our Chief and Deputy Chief.” United States Federal Probation

Professional Presentations – Conferences
Assault Prevention has been asked to present information on a variety of subjects over the years. Always informative and entertaining, our speakers are experts on the topics they present.

“I attended a session at the conference entitled Predicting Violence facilitated by a professor from one of our fine universities. I also attended your session. Your presentation on violence blew hers out of the water. Your presentation was very pragmatic, interactive, broad-based and very well presented. Your were able to hook your audience, keep them engaged, and I have no doubt that each attendee left with a keener sense of trusting their gut, identifying indicators of violence and having a few responses ready when they encounter violence. You should be proud of your training and the message you are getting out to people. This session was as good as any I have attended over the years. Way to go!” Tom B. – Assistant Superintendent, Community Corrections
